The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the central banking institution of India. The RBI is responsible for regulating and controlling the monetary policy in India. It is also responsible for issuing currency, managing foreign exchange reserves, and supervising the banking system in the country. The RBI was established in 1935 and has its headquarters in Mumbai. The RBI’s policies and decisions have a significant impact on the Indian economy and are closely watched by financial markets around the world. The current Governor of RBI is Shaktikanta Das.
