UB Group is an Indian conglomerate company with its headquarters in Bangalore, India. It was founded by Vijay Mallya in 1999 after the merger of United Breweries and McDowell and Company. The company holds interests in various sectors including beverages, aviation, real estate, and chemicals. It is primarily known for its flagship brand, Kingfisher Beer, which is one of the largest beer brands in India. The company expanded into the aviation industry in 2005 with the launch of Kingfisher Airlines. However, the airline ceased operations in 2012 due to financial troubles. The UB Group has faced controversy over the years due to Mallya's alleged fraudulent practices and loan defaults. In 2016, Mallya fled to the United Kingdom to avoid arrest and prosecution in India.
